Three drinking-water pumping stations have gone out of service in Syria’s northeastern Raqqa governorate after the level of the Euphrates rose by about 50 centimetres.
The shutdown puts the wider water system under strain, and its effect falls hardest on the districts and villages that rely on these stations as their main source of drinking water.
No timeline has been given for returning the three stations to service.
